School Rewards

Schools are always looking for inexpensive school rewards systems to help maintain or improve school attendance. Attendance is an important criteria that a school is judged on as part of its OFSTED report and is taken very seriously by the Government and their school inspectors, and many schools have introduced parental fines. These fines are primarily for those parents that take their children out of school on holiday during term time. With travel companies hiking up the price of holidays by as much as 300% during half terms, it is no surprise that many parents want to go either before or after the time of the official half term.

School Rewards

The rewards for schools are that they can keep their attendance record high and can demonstrate to both parents and inspectors that they have conquered this difficult problem. Good attendance has many positive effects on both the school (in terms of school morale) and for the individuals themselves. The effect on the individuals is that they have better life outcomes if their attendance is good, but, as with many studies, there are many other influencing factors.

Attendance rewards are a worthwhile investment for schools, and a good school reward system will have school rewards suitable for every age bracket. Whereas school attendance rewards for younger children might be a cute bear like our Attendance Bears, for an older child, it might be an iTunes voucher or cinema tickets. Anything that can engage those children on the edge of falling over the precipice of poor attendance are worth the investment.

Every school rewards system should be tailored around the pupils, as it is really important that these rewards for schools are something that the children really want to win. If they are engaged in these school reward systems, then it is easier for the school to see the returns on the money they invest in prizes. Sometimes children may have a very high attendance record that is only ever let down by factors outside of their control, such as an unreliable bus service, or poor health. These children that try very hard despite of other limiting factors should also be rewarded.

There are many other school rewards that can be an encouragement to all sections of the school, academy or college, such as days out, shopping vouchers and getting to have more choices within their educational environment. Something that is both rewarding and empowering.

Other children, who have had poor attendance and then improve, should also be rewarded for their efforts. The main thing to bear in mind with school rewards is that it is a much cheaper system to implement than having to employ a staff member to go out to children’s houses and get them out of bed.
